feels like I'm playing civilization as America and I just kicked GB's ass in a naval battle.

why does that banjo sound so special? unlike anything i've understood. -yours, a simple guitar player
HELL YA Play it like ya stole it son 😊
what song is this? sounds like dinah/cindy?
Good camera work from your daughter!
Thanks 👍
I think the first one sounded better honestly
Thank you very much. 😊
Gosh, you're an amazing player. Good job 👏
Pretty good 😊
Hello! I know this video was from a year ago, but I was given what I believe to be a K52 (it looks like this one with a resonator), and I'm new to playing. This banjo is pretty heavy, so I wanted to get a strap for it. Which should I get? The brackets are way too tight to use a cradle strap, and I am so confused as to what to use now since everyone online says that those are the best to use. Any advice would be great!
I had 1920s Gretch 5 string you had to keep the resonator on or it could hurt your leg. Bottle cap so called ain't nothing new
Love your videos brother! Much love from West Texas!
I appreciate that Wyatt. Much love back.
Holy cow how the heck do you not have more subscribers 😮
😨😨😨
You make it look so easy!
😃😃😃
I buying my first Banjo this Friday. Im finally going to learn the folk banjo. It’s a Vintage Harmony. That’s what brought me to your channel. Man you are gifted! Love your videos! Much love from West Texas!
Those are very kind words. Make sore to send a vid when you get your banjo!
😮😮😮
I have most of the hardware for the bare bones one I bought from eBay recently. May go 38 lugs with it. Tom in Idaho
My Concertina is. Coming soon. It's a project. Via eBay.
Nice Tom! Enjoy it. They are great banjos.
Hey Frankie- does this have a 40 hole or no-hole ring? Thanks! Sounds tops!
40 hole with the Kelley conversion ring.
This is awesome! Thank you for sharing it❤
Great idea! They’ve gone up in price a good bit though.
Still is an awesome banjo! I would recommend those no-hole banjo's, 3's or 4's as they are pretty much the same thing except for the resonator and neck. Tb-4's are harder to come by, Granada no-holes are really hard to find but they are out there... I'm still playing the thing, fingers are still working, not parting with it anytime soon but you never know... Take care Frankie, I saw this post today so I figured I should reply back!
Those triplets are awesome
Thanks Ben!
Which tuning are u in.
Regular old G tuning but I'm hitting a few 3rds I guess it would be called. I know, it sounds like a different tuning, right?
Man you must be rich owning all these nice banjos ur showing. Iv got one RB100 gibson I play.
I wish! But, no, I buy, sell, and trade frequently. Check me out on reverb if you'd ever like to see what I've got, or send me a message on here if you want something in particular.
I have this exact banjo. My father bought it in 1938. I started playing it in the 60s. At age 83 am giving it to my youngest grandson. A great banjo. Keeping it in the family.
always a good idea to pass them down.
Hey there great demo and playing! Do you still hold these guitars in high regard after a few years? I’m looking at a BR-140A online but I’m struggling to determine if it has enough low end since I don’t have the ability to play one in person. Thanks!
This was absolutely one of the top two or three guitars I've ever owned. I like my n1950 Gibson SJ a little better but that's it--it was a HOSS!!!
what kind of guitar is that?
Thanks for the question. It’s a wine box made by Jim Morris. He explains it in the talk of the town video I believe.
Nice! I like the box guitars!
Me too! Jim Morris makes great ones too.
please explain that guitar!
LOL it's made from a wine box. I think Jim explains it at the beginning of the video.
Awesome 👍
Thanks 🤗
Finally got a drum dial on mine. I set it at 91 and that put it around a G sharp and I sand papered a gap between the resonator band and the neck. Used a better thick 5/8 bridge and a presto tail piece. Installed a bone nut and med/light gage strings.
That's a great way to set em' up. I like a fiberskin head on them as well.
I have this same guitar. I found it at a yard sale for 75 bucks. I love it so much. And i agree with the other commenter, its an awsome blues guitar. For real blues you don't want that giant robust sound of a more expensive guitar, you want it to sound comon and local. Like your just playing it with what you have.
What you just said there is the definition of the blues! Agree!!!
People that do pick comparisons have said that the plastic doesn't sound very good and it wears out but that's because they're playing on steel strings. I think you have a great sound just coming through the TV speakers❤. I am trying to buy a banjo and not break the bank.
Thank you, and lots of great options for cheaper banjos today, Gold Tone, Deering, etc.
The 20s Gibsons were the best built and best sounding. And supposedly brass flanges. My favorite.
This one sure was a HOSS!!!
This is really awesome! I love this song 🤘❤️
Thanks!!!
Do a video on building one.
Sure will. I think I have a video on here on the basics of building an instrument out of anything.
Let me know if you are still looking for a new home for this bad boy
I wish I still had it but I did see one for sale locally on FB Marketplace.
Awesome
Thanks, I was experimenting with blues and gospel and really liked it myself.
Please do a how to play
I'll be glad to do a tutorial on this tune, keep watching my channel and I'll get one up soon. It would be hard to do with this song because there is so much feeling behind it and I don't always play it the same way.
I'm thinking if buying a 69. A couple questions. Was Addy still on these or gone by 69? Also was the bridge plate large on these like the 70s ones? Or was it tbe smaller maple? Thsnks
All great questions. I believe in March of 69 they went to the smaller maple bridgeplate. Mine is one of the last with the large Rosewood plate. I'm not sure about Addy spruce.
Envy that fine picking man. Nice work
I really appreciate that, thank you!
